Encouraging emerging artists, easel, children's drawings, receipt of purchase, 2006

This children’s easel was discovered in the corner of a touristy commercial art gallery while in residency at Bay St-Paul, Quebec. In the context of the gallery I decided to consider it as an actual installation piece. I approached the owner and told him that I loved this piece; it’s naivety and the contrast it created with rest of the space had seduced me. Before he could get word in I had given him my first offer, which he immediately accepted. I paid 250$ for the easel, the drawings that were on it, the crayons and the chair. I renamed the piece and presented it at the 25th Symposium of Contemporary Art in Bay St-Paul with the receipt taped to the front.
